Day 18: Perseverence

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Hebrews 12:1

I have to admit that I am not a distance runner. I am a sprinter. I think my attention span is too short for long distance sometimes. The way this plays itself out in my life is that sometimes I am a quitter. I pray that my children will possess the endurance and perseverence I lack. I also pray the Lord will strengthen me in this area, so that I may be a good example for my children.

I love the way this verse talks about a great cloud of witnesses. We are all better for the accountability we have from the people that care about us, aren't we? I pray that in addition to perseverence, the children will also remember to be a cloud of witnesses for each other. May they cheer one another on and never let one another quit.
