Musings of an Old Lady

I've had lots of worthwhile, fulfilling work at home and with the children's home I am involved with today. It is a gorgeous Fall day...and it happens to be my birthday. As I was driving down a beautiful, colorful tree-lined street today this song came on and I felt compelled to post the lyrics, even though it is a depart from my usual content.

Things that Make the Story Mine....
I've been working on a 32* year story
I've been starring in a role that's unrehearsed
Though some scenes have been sweet, others have been gory
but I'm wiser now than at the very first
Between my "once upon a time" and my "happily ever after"

No stunt man steps on stage to take my falls
No one else can cry my tears or laugh my laughter
The part gets played by me or not at all
And I wish sometimes that I could rewrite some chapters

Some paragraphs, some passages, some lines,
But it's those very parts that I would change, those lines I'd cut, those scenes that I'd refine
Those things that I'd remove are the things that make the story mine...
When my story ends be sure to read the credits of those who turned my stumbles into dance

Of those who made the necessary edits to guarantee the story was romance
And I wish sometimes that I could rewrite some chapters

Some paragraphs, some passages, some lines,
But it's those very parts that I would change, those scenes I'd cut, the things that I'd refine
Those things that I'd remove are the things that make the story mine.

This song was written by my old friend Allen Levi. He and his music are incredible. If you ever have a chance to hear him live, I highly recommend it. He is awesome!
*orignal lyric is 42, but I changed it to fit me.
