Pottypalooza 2006

Since my post a week or so ago about the Potty readiness signs K & R were displaying, we have been reading potty books and talking about the potty...but what happened last night still blows me away.

I ordered 4 potties. The first one arrived yesterday afternoon. I pulled it out of the box amidst comments of: "Whad IS it package, hhmmm?" I told them it was potty & placed it in the hallway between the laundry room & the kitchen. They took turns testing it out and seriously, EVERY ONE OF THEM USED IT within 45 minutes of the package being opened. R even used it twice.

Think they are ready?

I have no idea what the next few days will hold...but talk about the power of peer pressure, praise, stickers & candy! WOW!

**Editted to add at 7:45**
HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET OUT THE DOOR? Everyone wants to potty...but not really. They just want me to take all their clothes off and let them sit. ARGH!

My hat is off to you for attempting to potty train 3 at one time! I still have 3 in diapers and cannot wait to start decreasing that major budget line item. I remember being pretty much homebound for a week when my oldest one was working on it, but he was very ready and made it pretty easy. But then, that was our 2nd attempt after the 1st one was a failure becuase neither he nor I were ready.

so why 4 potties for only 3 kids? unless you want to place one in all 4 corners of the house just in case one of the kids has to go quickly. or maybe you plan to keep the extra one in the car like we did for our kids when we were on long road trips. ???

Eric- The extra one is for the car...but your idea sounds good too. Can I get 7? Three for upstairs, 3 for downstairs and 1 for the car? Why not 3 for the car too? 9 little potties...can you IMAGINE???

Meg- Thanks for your unwaivering support. :-)

Renee- I REALLY did not want to do all 3 at once, but they see each other & want to try it too. I had 0 success this morning...so maybe we just got lucky yesterday and they aren't really ready. (Is it bad that I HOPE this is the case?)

I have to share the sad fact that you WON'T be getting out the door until they're somewhat trained! Everytime I attempted it with Caiden, he'd wet his carseat. Or shopping cart. Or stroller. Or just himself, walking. Not pretty. After two weeks, I thought I was going to lose my mind! But I'm happy to announce that it DID finally happen:) One down, two to go . . . Good luck!

Hey Jen! I hate to tell you this, but my boys got excited about and occasionally went to the potty for about 7 months. I tried everything-marshmellows, stickers, candy, PRAISE, calling everyone to tell them, etc. But finally, 2 months before their 3rd birthday, they were truly ready and so was I. We stayed totally at home for 3 days and they were in t-shirts and undies only. (It really bothered them to wet their new undies.) Anyway, it really worked and rarely have there been any accidents. Just remember, have you ever heard of anyone going to kindergarten in diapers? My daughter is two and occasionally goes in her potty. She may be getting close to being ready, but I'm not until she DEFINATELY is. I've just realized that it's not worth the headache or cleanup. Good luck!
They sure are precious and I'm loving seeing you so happy!
