We are officially old, geeky and boring.
Tonight we were scheduled to attend a large formal gathering. It is an annual event that is always lots of fun. Many of my best friends are there. Yet, tonight we just were not feeling it.
My hubby is on call so we had a babysitter lined up, acknowledging our attendance would be a last minute decision. When the sitter arrived, hubby was home so we decided to run out for a quick dinner in casual clothes. As we were wrapping up dinner, we discussed how great it was to just have a laid back date. The pager was being good to us, so we ran back by the house to retrieve our laptops and set off for Panera--and here we sit, in front of the fire sipping latte(me) and hot chocolate(him). While our friends are dressed to the nines, enjoying a high class gathering I am in a messy ponytail surfing the Internet while hubby dictates and fields calls. Instead of circulating in a beautiful ballroom, I am sitting on a coffeehouse sofa next to the man I adore. I wouldn't have it any other way.
And the fact that I took a picture of us while curious strangers watched? It pretty much seals our status. Yes, we are officially geeky, old and boring...and very happy about it.

You aren't old, geeky or boring. You are comfortable and happy. That is the way to be!
Have a great time! Enjoy a bagel for me! :)
Well, if you are old, geeky and boring...welcome to the club! My husband and I just went to Macy's in Austin to see Jordan Sparks sing Christmas carols, light the tree and then announce the fireworks to follow. And all of this seemed like a Big Deal to us. Much more fun than any formal dinner. Ahhh. This is real life.
We are old(er) geeky and boring too... just had to run outside to get something and could hear the music and was so happy that I was in my pajamas and not heels!
Sounds like an AWESOME way to spend the evening to me!
That's pretty much my perfect night. :-) Y'all enjoy!
sounds like heaven to me!
I'm chiming in with the consensus. Sounds like a great evening. Who needs to be dressed to the "nines" anyway?
Comfort with the one you love trumps pantyhose and high heels any day!
Geeky, old, boring, very happy, and TOO CUTE!! What a PERFECT way to spend an evening - ya'll have fun!
This made me smile. Just last night Don and I had a much needed "date night" and instead of the dressing up and going fancy, we wore jeans and made a slow lazy evening of it ourselves. We really needed a regular night, to get back to just us, no pretences. It is nice having that comfort back. Like an old favorite pair of jeans :)
It doesn't sound boring at all. You chose to spend time with each other instead of a few hundred of your nearest and dearest. It sounds to me like you have your priorities straight. I wish I had the guts to back out on some things so there was more time for me and my family.
a perfect night indeed...y'all are so cute!
I'm so with you siesta! The older I get, the more I REALLY enjoy a quiet weekend, mainly staying home. Watching a movie in my bed and pjs....I'm one step away from the retirement home, I'm sure of it.
Yay for Panera and WiFi. :)
I love being old, geeky and boring! It's much more relaxing.
Oh, I understand! Those are goooood dates. And with little ones, you jump at any chance you get to have some laid-back time together! My husband and I need to schedule some of those soon.
