A few nights ago, K wanted to brush my hair before bed. I pulled it down out of the ponytail that has become a permanent fixture and she declared, "You wook wike a boy-ee, Mama!" I encouraged her to help make me beautiful. She went to work with great earnestness, tongue hanging out of the side of her mouth, and a very serious expression. I intermittently asked, "Am I beautiful?" and she would reply, "Nah. Not yet." This went on for several minutes until I realized she was either stalling her bedtime or convinced I was a hopeless cause.
Last night, R started stroking my forearm, then said, "Mommy, did Daddy give you some hair for your arms?"
Then this morning, the children and I were naming physical characteristics that made people we know special... curly hair, dimples, "polka dots" (P's term for freckles), etc. I asked what made Mommy special and was told, "Ear-wings!"
So, while the Proverbs 31 woman may find that "her children will rise up and call her blessed," mine will apparently be calling me the hairy boy with earrings! ;-)

That made for a fun laugh, thanks for sharing!
I must delurk here and set your mind at ease with this information. You are not the only mommy sporting a permanent ponytail. My 3 year old daughter lovingly refers to ponytails as "a Holly"...which would be my first name. Anytime she wants to wear a ponytail, she asks me, "Mommy, will you make me a Holly today?" I took it as a sign that I keep my hair in a ponytail entirely too often, but don't seem to do much about it. Not sure how this started, but it's too funny. Talk about humbling though!
I love your blog...I read every time you post!
In Him,
Holly
This made me laugh!
My hair is in a ponytail right now too. :)
My three-year-old son just told me yesterday that I have "big panties".
Yup, motherhood is humbling.

That is hilarious!!
I love that you post those things!
Love,

I recently posted about how my daughter had returned from the Missions Conference at our church where she had gotten to meet her Sunday School class "adopted" missionary family to India. They had told her how the dot the Hindus wear on the forehead is believed to be an eye that sees danger and evil to ward it off. Then my daughter told me (with much excitement) "That means you would be really safe in their country Momma because you have LOTS of eyes to look out for you!" So, obviously I am the only person for whom ProActive HASN'T worked! Sigh.
So funny...I love how brutally honest they can be!
ROFL! Ain't that the truth? It never says anything in Proverbs 31 about the drool, spitup, and mashed sweet potato stains on her clothes; little mouth and handprints everywhere; the umpteenth day in a row of whatever they ate in the OT, etc! Ya ever wonder if God was deliberately withholding that part? *wink*
Too funny. I remember clearly having to explain to my brother Jaocb about what zits were, because "I had these little dots all over my face?." And on my Jacob, it was "Chili" on his face. Nice ego booster.
Too funny! Just this morning Joshua announced, "Mommy you are like a cow!" This took me a second. . . He meant because I make milk, but still who wants to be told they are like a cow - especially when I still look 6 months pregnant!!!!!!!! They have a way of keeping us humble - you are right!!
