We left home at 8:30 this morning and arrived at the beach at 4:30 this afternoon. Despite the way it sounds, especially after the MARTA experience, the children were amazing on our long travel day. To break up the trip, we enjoyed a picnic stop halfway with BeeBee & Poppy at a park in my hometown.
Upon our arrival, we went directly to the beach (in street clothes). The children's reaction to the beach characterized their personalities wonderfully.
R insisted that I hold him the whole time. He squealed and giggled and offered lots of commentary--as long as he was in the safety of my arms.
K ran full force from the boardwalk ahead of everyone, then quickly retreated once she reached the water shouting, "Da waves are gonna get me, Mama!" She was then content to look for seashells, while cautiously keeping one eye on the waves at all times to insure the tide didn't suddenly rush in 50 yards and "get her."
P was pokey getting down to the shore, then ran straight into the ocean. The child was soaked within 30 seconds. Since the boys are so thin that their 24 month shorts are constantly falling down, you can imagine what sandy, wet shorts looked like. Remember this?
The experience at the shower on the boardwalk was similar. R was splashing. K was carefully holding up her pants to prevent them from getting wet. P looked like a little wet river rat--with a huge grin of self-satisfaction on his face.
I already feel so relaxed. I cannot wait to see what the next few days bring! THANK YOU, sweet Daree, for the use of your beautiful place!

I was wondering if we would hear from you during your beach trip. So glad you decided to post while down there. Sounds like y'all are already having a blast! What fun times! We leave for the beach on Wednesday and we can't wait!!! Tell the trio that Marianna, Davis and Anna Miles say hello.
Also, tell Randi hello for me when you see her.
Take care,
Marianna
I'm so jealous, I mean excited, that you got to get away. Except at this moment, I think I'd prefer to leave the little ones home. I don't know how you do it! The thought of taking my 4 boys to the beach (minus their Papa) makes me tired. I do hope you have a wonderfully, relaxing time!
Renee- Don't give me too much credit. Annie, our incredible-gift-from-God sitter, is with me...I would not attempt a trip of this length (especially around water) alone!
Have so much fun!!! :-)
Yay for the beach.
Yay for family and friends who share their beachy abodes.
And yay for the beauty of God's creation...SOAK IT UP for these next few days!
You always describe everything so well that I feel like I'm there at the beach! I wish! Have fun! : )
How fun!! Enjoy your time together making new memories!
Anything near the beach, on the ocean, or anything that has to do with collecting shells.. .is of God in my book... even if it means chasing God's little angels to exhaustion...you can sit and read books when they are gone to college like one of mine... :-(
By the way, Caroline went home this weekend....doing great, group of us nurses are taking them dinner each night. They will be spoiled..
Enjoy...
Connie
