House Rules

I discovered this quote via pinterest.com last week and simply adore it:
In this house
We do second chances
We do grace
We do real
We do mistakes
We do I'm sorry
We do loud really well
We do hugs
We do family
We do love

How great is that? I want to get it painted on a canvas or reclaimed wood for my home. Until then, I will reread it frequently and remind myself of the beauty of the Gospel and the daily opportunity we have to model it through our family life.

I've been a reader of yours for quite a while, but felt compelled to say that I love this! What a great set of "rules"!

  2. I discovered it too! I wonder if C would paint it for us?

  3. I have a girlfriend who is a pastor's wife in South Carolina. Or wait...maybe North Carolina. My mind has blanked for the moment. Anyway, they are raising money to leave & go into the mission field full time and she's done a lot of home-decor-art sort of things like this before. I could put you in touch if you're interested. It would be a blessing to both of you!

  5. The original photo was from etsy, but the actual link for the listing appears to have expired. Here are several options using stickers/wall decals. Note that the words are different in many of them. I think you can customize it to fit your family.

  8. Do you have a Hobby Lobby near you? I just saw this there. I am almost positive the words are the same. It looks a little different - instead of wood it is on a metal. Either way I love it! I am not second guessing why I walked out without it!

  9. Oops - in my excitement I made a huge typo--that should say I am NOW second guessing why I walked out without it.

  11. Do you know Emerging Mummy's blog? She just painted this on the stairs of her house. I love that.

I'm thinking of tweaking this list of rules with a few of my own and having it done in vinyl so I can put it around the top of our hearth room/kitchen.

  14. Several years ago HALLMARK had this on a purple canvas in their stores. I didn't like the purple so I had an artist friend paint three of them and I gave one to each of my children. They all have them hanging in their homes. I pray they follow those *rules* in their families.
