The Tight Rope

As I went to bed last night, with a tummy full of ceviche and guacamole, I was still pondering balance. I was reminded of an analogy I wrote about in this post. Balance is not an achievement or a one time destination...it is a process, that involves constant correction and adjustment. I cannot think of a better analogy than the picture of a tight rope walker. He speeds up and slows down, leans this way and that, constantly aware of where he is and which way he needs to shift to avoid falling off the rope.

May we be so tuned in to our Maker that it becomes second nature to lean left, right, slow down or run based on what is needed as we walk. And may we be reassured that if we get more tuned into the crowd below than His voice, He is our safety net and ever-secure place to land!

Now I am off to dive back into some fiction in the sun before I return to my life as a circus performer. :-)

  2. I've had a bunch of friends recommend a really good back that talks about things like this, that there are seasons in life. It's called "Your Life in Rhythm," by Bruce Miller. I haven't read it yet, but it looks really good!!! They said it was life changing!
