Maine: Day Two

Due to some technical difficulties, I am going to have to return later with photos from our morning adventure. (We took a pocket camera instead of my big one...and now the cords are lost for uploading. :-)

Wednesday morning began a with a delicious breakfast of homemade muffins (including Maine blueberry) prepared by Aunt A. She is truly to most amazing cook I know. I have never tasted anything she has prepared that has been short of fabulous.
After a quick visit with her chickens we ventured out for a morning 'musselling' adventure. (Please note the sweatshirts...it was chilly...and the water we had to wade in was frigid!!) The children loved seeing live mussels, periwinkles and sea urchins. They also enjoyed getting 'stuck in the muck' at low tide and scavenging for sea glass.

After lunch, although foggy, it had warmed up enough to play on the beach...which gave I & R an opportunity to have an epic light saber duel.At dinner time Aunt A led the girl cousins in picking herbs and a few vegetables to accompany the fresh crab cakes and homemade blueberry cobbler...YUM! "Mom, did you know carrots grow in the ground? I thought they only came in nibbler versions from Kroger?" (He did not really say that, but I am sure the thought crossed his mind!)

The girl cousins enjoying each other immensely!

More tomorrow...

  1. He looks like he is getting ready to say..."what's up doc?" Is that just me?

I have to admit, I missed your blog. I thought that to be kinda weird of me to start with but anything that brings us up is okay to miss. You now have me longing for our October getaway even more!
