Thank you for all your sweet comments. Other than pesky colds, everyone is doing well. We enjoyed a low key day around the house Tuesday so everyone would be healthy for all the fun Christmas activities we have planned this week.
Of course there are always a couple of funny highlights from our day:
Our friends sent an awesome gift from Harry & David. I am already a big fan of Harry & David, but oh my, seeing a Tower of Treats through the eyes of my 2 year olds was PRICELESS. They oohed and ahhed and giggled uncontrollably. I let them open each of the boxes. "I like dis one. Dis is so pwetty, I wuv it! Oh, Mommy, CHOC-O-LATE!!!" They sampled candied bing cherries, moose munch and truffles in a state of pure delight. Big hit, Franklins!!!
Later, when 5 pm meltdowns were beginning, I decided to let them each play with a nativity set. (Most of mine are fairly child friendly.) I was feeling so peaceful and proud as I watched them move figures around the creche and tell the Christmas story (sort of). My heart swelled as my sensitive R kissed baby Jesus, rocked him and told him "Night Night, baby. You sleep here."
I am sure I heard a distant record player screeching to interrupt my "moment" as he gingerly placed Jesus and his manger on the ROOF of the stable and let him slide down to a crash. This got P's attention and suddenly angels, wisemen and livestock were all sliding down the roof to the laughter of my sons as K WAILED, "Oh, boys, No, NO, NO!!!"
I laughed out loud at the nativity story. Too funny. Little boys are wonderful and so are sisters that want things done the right way.
