Thank you for this excellent, heartfelt post. Some of us never received recognition ourselves and I can't help but think it may have been paving the road to being A Nonny that understands. The one who wasn't recognised in using of her year received 4 university offers, much to both hers and our delight. I told her, her value doesn't rest in receiving awards but in serving God in what ever way He directs her. She is now about to fly to Texas next weekend to begin a three month stint working as a lifeguard at a special needs camp. The blessings she will be and the blessings she will receive will be ling lasting. She is now looked up to by her peers. Interesting how life terns out. Life is full of lessons for us all and I hope we never stop learning until God calls us homeAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08057976015865894921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14642592.post-44250485952079119732016-05-13T20:28:48.153-04:002016-05-13T20:28:48.153-04:00Perfect timing on this - as 8th grade graduation i...Perfect timing on this - as 8th grade graduation is just around the corner! My beautiful girl set some very high goals for herself, and has SO much to be proud of! Still, my Mom heart is hurting, because once again, she is not going to be the one to get the award. Hate when my pride/desire to see her recognized gets in the way! She is a wonderful, loving, Grace filled girl - and Mom needs to take a lesson from her on this! Thanks for the perspective!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14642592.post-12450392628510131432016-05-13T16:39:00.034-04:002016-05-13T16:39:00.034-04:00What a wise and thoughtful piece of writing. As the mother of two "average" daughters, who are now very successful professionals, and outstanding thirty-something women, I remember those award day experiences and how they felt when they were overlooked.

You offer a great perspective. I always look forward to reading your posts as you are honest and straightforward.

Blessings for the special ministry of fostering children as well as raising your own. God is with you always.Jacquie Reedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06543753105930454802noreply@blogger.com
