We are in a season of doing what's right for our child--and accepting that she has God-given personality traits that are not always attractive to others. There are some areas that need refinement...and this mom is trying to reach her heart not break her spirit. (I started to type work on her heart...but changed it to reach her heart!) Sally Clarkson has been a wonderful author for me to read the last few years. I will also check into the Purvis author you mentioned! So grateful you share insights from your walk with the Lord. It puts into words what many of us are walking as well!<br />Kristi in TxKristihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05393024979088165399noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14642592.post-16640166896391564392015-04-01T08:54:33.544-04:002015-04-01T08:54:33.544-04:00There really are no words to describe the waiting ...There really are no words to describe the waiting in anticipation part. My family opened our home in mid-January and had a placement call 2 weeks later. Our little guy has been with us since. I encourage you to enjoy this season of rest while you wait. Use the time to prepare your heart, mind, family and children. It took us 1 year to get our license and looking back, that was perfect. Especially for our children. There is nothing that can quite prepare you for the 2am phone call, which leads to receiving a child 30 minutes later, but a year of praying and anticipating sure helped. And, God is so good through it all. Some days it feels like complete chaos has overtaken our home, but more often there is love, joy, accomplishment and fun.God has shown us sweet mercies and encouraged us forward each step of the way.We are learning and growing closer to God. Welcome to the journey. Many prayers for your family as you take this leap of faith and move forward. Only, we were looking to adopt first from foster care (in Arkansas). But we experienced many of the things you describe here, both in tasks and heart preparation. And we can only give the glory to God and his work in redeeming our life stories, as he took me, a completely infertile woman, and my loving husband and brought us our daughters. On March 11, we finalized the adoption of a sibling group of 4 girls, ages 2, 3, 3, and 4 (22 months from oldest to youngest, all born from the same bio-mom!)... and we are so excited to watch God redeem their hearts as he knits our family. All that to say, congratulations on getting to where God has led you! Looking forward to hearing more about the shareable parts of your journey in the months to come.
